Clinical trials Sweden – Swedish Research Council’s major investment in Gothenburg!

13 April, 2016

Recently we attended the inauguration of Clinical Trials Sweden, an important national initiative focused on strengthening the conditions for clinical trials. The department of clinical trials, located at Östra Hamngatan in Gothenburg, is the Swedish Research Council’s first business establishment outside of the Stockholm area and this is of course of great importance to us and western Sweden. Collaboration is the strongest watchword!

“Our mission is to support and develop conditions for clinical studies in Sweden, one task is allocating the money that the Council has at its disposal”, said Kaj Stenlöf, manager of the department.

Clinical trials Sweden is a national collaboration between the Research Council and the six Swedish health regions. The initiative is guided by a committee of representatives from academia, medicine and industry.

Kaj Stenlöf started up operations around Gothia Forum and is a well-known name in the life science area. He finds the mission to create opportunties for more clinical trials in Sweden a very exciting challenge. Today he has eight highly qualified employees in Gothenburg and together they had arranged a nice opening ceremony of the fine facilities at Östra Hamngatan. We look forward to close a cooperation!

Director General of the Research Council Sven Stafström had the honor to cut the ribbon.

“Today is an exciting day for the Swedish Research Council as this inauguration means that we have established operations outside of Stockholm. We see great opportunities in the knowledge and resources in the council and the six health regions.”said Sven Stafström.
